Dr. Kim DiStefano
For the Love of Herbs!
Dr. Kim has always been passionate about medicine. Growing up around medicine, through her yoga practice, and as an athlete, she developed an understanding of the body-mind connection.
This initial spark started a lifelong journey of studying methods of balancing the body through movement, herbal remedies, and meditation. As an undergraduate at Dickinson College she took a course that opened her eyes to eastern modalities of healing. This course ignited a fire within her to treat her own personal anxiety and acne naturally. This opened her eyes to the power of food and herbs as medicine.
After college, Dr. Kim worked at a physical therapist office which brought on a curiosity about the body-mind connection. This is when she decided she needed to go to school for Chinese Medicine because it provides a deep understanding of how each organ system governs different emotions, as well as different parts of the body.
She started her Doctorate in Chinese Medicine in New York City at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (PCOM). Her love of traveling and experiencing new cultures brought her to expand her knowledge base to study at PCOM San Diego.
While in New York City, she learned cosmetic acupuncture while privately studying under her mentors at Eastgate Acupuncture in Columbus Circle.
In San Diego, her experience ranges from pediatric patients at Rady’s Children’s Hospital to treating geriatric patients at Lutheran Church clinic in Downtown.
While completing her Doctorate at PCOM in San Diego, she also studied cranio-sacral therapy, specifically visceral and neural manipulation, with Adrien Bean. This technique closely works with the Vagal nerve of the body to aid stimulation of the parasympathetic nervous system.
Dr. Kim’s focus is on herbal medicine for gynecological disorders, post-op healing, respiratory diseases, and herbal treatments to maintain overall health and prevention of disease.
Dr. Kim also finds a true passion in creating herbal coffee alternatives which heighten focus, eliminate brain fog, and increase overall productivity and creativity.
